Fachingen water

Fachingen water, licensed as a Heilwasser, is the favored health water by the Germans.  The water in limpid pearly, pleasant pungent and of mixed with wine and sugar, froths like champagne. It is  a mineral water from a spring near the village of Fachingen, in Nassau, Germany.

Fachingen is situated at the bottom of a picturesque valley, surrounded by the lofty mountains covered with trees.

The fountain of mineral water at Fachingen, which was discovered in 1745, is formed of four springs, issuing from the ground on the side of the Lahn, so that they are only separated from the river by a bank.

The water was sold in earthen jars from 1746 and it became popular with visitors who enjoyed the waters for their health benefits.

The German poet Goethe wrote of the water in 1843 ‘the next four weeks are supposed to work wonders. For this purpose I hope to be favored with Fachingen water and white wine, the one to liberate the genius and the other to inspire it’.

Today, the water is bottled in the plant adjacent to the Fachingen well. Only one percent of production is exported.
