Instant tea

Instant tea is not created accidentally and Nestle Company and Standard Brands worked for several years to develop a water soluble tea.

It was developed in the 1930s but it was not until the 1960s that instant tea became popular and began to be perceived as a marketable alternative to soft drinks.

The commercial production of instant tea began in the 1940s, and this form of tea has grown in popularity in the United States to the extent that comprises 42% of tea sales 1977.

Instant tea powder is manufactured by dehydrated a strong concentration of ice and sometimes mixing it with sugar and other flavorings. Instant tea started with little impression on the consuming public.

In the United States in 1948, Standard Brands introduced ‘Instant Tenderleaf’ with limited distribution and a Nestle product, ‘Nestea’ was also brought out.

Instant tea was introduced internationally in 1953. Lipton’s Instant tea came out five years later.
